Home Improvement Done Right
Hello to all the handy creators and welcome to my Home Improvement Done Right Professional Remodeling Blog.
In over 2 decades now, I’ve torn hundreds of “Mickey Mouse Jobs” that all kinds of Do-It-Yourselfers had come up with over a 100 years of Home Improvement evolution. I mean… we’ve laughed our pants off so many times and so hard, we even took pictures of some of the “best” of them: Funny DIY Fails.
Yes, it is possible to figure things out, sure, but at what expense? If you’ve never really seen it done, do you really know how things are done right? How would you know all the “tricks of a trade” that it takes years of being a Pro to develop?
You can figure out a bookshelf from Ikea maybe, but Home Renovation???
For many years, I’ve watched all kinds of Pro Tradesmen “do their thing” as I was working and living in homes being remodeled. In my free time I’ve offered my help to them so I can just observe and learn, and they were happy to share all their tricks and know-hows with me, and it eventually helped me to become a Licensed General Contractor and Flooring Installer, working for myself and loving it!
Later on I started a full service Flooring Store, I called Quality Floors 4 Less, where I was running it and my friends that have worked for me for many years as helpers, became installers and ran the installation crew. My passion for building and creating stuff was suppressed “at the office”, so 5 years later I sold my store to friends and went back to where the action is. Every once in a while I do take on an interesting flooring project to stay in shape so to speak. In reality I quit doing flooring full-time because I like to do different things and not being stuck doing one particular form of trade forever… and that’s why I enjoy remodeling even though it is one of the toughest professions around. Hey, it pays well, my family is happy and so am I!
So one day as I am in the company of a good friend of mine who is an IT geek with a new-found passion for making videos and short movies, an idea comes along… duh!
So I get a GoPro Hero 6 camera and just start shooting. I don’t really know what I’m doing at first, then I get better, just like at everything else that I’ve put my mind to before. I learn as I go and I make improvements as I think of them or if some of you suggest. Though I do have friends that are showing me how to put videos together and create this website among other things, because watching someone actually doing it- is like a million times easier, faster, cheaper and sometimes less painful, than figuring things out… Whatever you’re building or contemplating making, watch me do it first, then You Do It like a Pro that you will be when I’m done with you!
So the plan is to make a video and a blog post about every project that I do, and to pack it with useful information that will spare you time, money and quite a few nerve cells, and maybe even some gray hair?!
I hate adds, so you won’t find any around here… You can help me raise some funds, though, by shopping on Amazon.com for your new toys by following any of the links provided on the bottom of every page, and it doesn’t matter what you end up getting there: Amazon will pay me a referral fee, which will keep this Remodeling Blog project going and improving. Thanks, guys!!!
P.S. My only regret is that I did not come up with this idea earlier when I was doing all sorts of cool different things you see here in pictures… I do realize that there is plenty more left to make and create, and so if people will find this project useful and interesting, and would like to see more videos about how to do things properly… Wouldn’t it be cool to see a whole house remodel 1-on-1? I would love to do it and I will as soon as I can get the funds needed to buy an interesting “fixer-upper”. Not sure when, yet… it may take a while… but if many people pitch in a little by little… You can help make this idea become a reality sooner by donating as much as you want, even if it’s just a few bucks- it is one step closer to the goal! Funds will be accumulating in a PayPal savings account until I have enough to get it done, so I can show you how You Do It! https://www.youtube.com/channel/YouDoIt!
I’m actually amazed with how much Tech they could fit into this little tiny box…
This is my Demolition Buddy- SawsAll, that you see in every Episode of You Do It!
